Alliance for National Transformation Party Organizes weekly prayers to defeat COVID-19
The Alliance for National Transformation ANT, leadership has organized to have weekly national prayers as part of their contribution to the fight against COVID-19.
The development was announced by Gen. Mugisha Muntu, the National Coordinator, ANT. He says Ugandans shall be coordinated to join in prayer on Wednesday every week.
“The Alliance for National Transformation leadership has over the past few days met online to sum up our contribution to the fight. As a party that recognizes the Almighty God in our founding documents, we have resolved to galvanize Ugandans around a day of prayer once a week, every week until we get through this crisis. As a party we have identified and set apart Wednesday for prayer and fasting. We shall be holding prayers between 6 and 7 PM on Wednesday” he noted.
He called upon all Ugandans at home and abroad who are willing, to join in the prayer from their homes. The party will be specifically praying for God to help bring the COVID-19 crisis to a quick end and that God provides those in government, the wisdom to prepare adequately for people and the courage to serve the nation above themselves. The plan shall be put in place starting tomorrow Wednesday 15th April 2020.
Meanwhile, the ANT National Coordinator also urged government to communicate any measures they have in place to increase the number of ICUs in any case, the current situation deteriorates.
“A study by Ugandan researchers published this year shows that the country has only 12 functional Intensive Care Units with a total of 55 beds. Ten of these were in the central region. What this points to is that in preparation for a case of escalated infections, government needs to put in place and communicate to the public, measures being taken to increase our ICU capacity. This means purchasing ventilators and monitoring equipment, building or repurposing ICU rooms at existing health facilities and new ones all together” Gen. Muntu advised.
