Makindye court Grade one Magistrate Fortunate Nyapiri has dismissed a case of 'disobeying lawful & malicious damage' against opposition leaders Dr. Kiiza Besigye, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Dr. Besigye’s driver Kato and a one Jethro Nuwagaba over lack of evidence.

The gentlemen were accused of disobeying lawful orders of Kampala South metropolitan police commandant Siraje Bakaleke in June 2015.

Prosecution indicates that Bakaleke had ordered the accused to disperse from Nsambya sharing hall where they had staged a rally to gather public views about the proposed electoral reforms, and they allegedly ignored this order.

The state however dropped all the charges against Besigye, prompting the Magistrate to dismiss it. Now, the opposition strongman Besigye contemplates suing government for malicious prosecution
