Health Ministry, bar owners enter partnership to speed up COVID-19 Vaccination
The Ministry of Health together with Uganda Breweries limited have partnered with Kampala bar owners under their umbrella, Legit Bar, Entertainment and restaurant owners association to speed up COVID-19 vaccination.
The move is targeted at increasing the number of vaccination points in the Kampala Metropolitan Area for more people to get access to the available vaccines.
UBL, entertainment places will support the scaling up of COVID-19 mobile sites in Kampala by sensitizing and mobilizing the public to go and get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Vaccination points have been set up at Kyandondo Rugby Grounds and Samitto bar and Lounge in Naalya. On Friday more than 100 people especially waiters and waitresses from different bars turned up to receive their first and second doses.
The association chose to start with only two vaccination points, but intends to roll out the program to other entertainment places in the next weeks.
According to Jackie Tahakanizibwa, the Uganda Breweries Limited Corporate Relations Manager, the campaign will go on until next month.
Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson, says the ministry will use readily accessible and available places in the city to ensure people are vaccinated irrespective of the location.
