Health Workers told to wear two Masks while at work
Health workers across the country have been advised to wear two masks at work.
Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa, the Director General Ministry of health applauded the health workers for the exemplary work they are doing to save lives of patients affected by COVID-19 and demonstrating resilience and commitment to work.
“As you are all aware, Uganda is currently facing the second wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic. This wave is more virulent and spreading faster than the previous wave we experienced. As health workers, you interface with many patients daily, and you are at a high risk of contracting COVID-19. The Scientific Advisory Committee has guided that health workers, because of the risk, need to use 2 masks (double masks) while in clinics/wards” Mwebesa said.
He therefore requested them all to double mask-up while at work. “Please ensure that you always wear two face masks properly, and also adhere to the infection, prevention, and control measures to prevent contracting COVID-19.”
Dr. Mwebesa says the Ministry of Health will endeavor to provide to all hospitals and districts with the relevant IPC materials, to keep health workers safe.
