Kyagulanyi meets EC Chairman, appalled by images of him smoking on the commission’s walls
The National Unity Platform, NUP Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu as this afternoon met with members of the electoral commission led by Chairman Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama.
Kyagulanyi requested to meet the Chairperson and members of the EC on Wednesday to make a presentation on issues concerning the conduct of campaigns for presidential elections.
He was granted the requested and arrived at the EC by mid-day today with his campaign team. Details of the meeting are yet to be revealed by either team.
Meanwhile in a rather unfortunate incident, unknown elements spent the most of Tuesday pinning posters of Kyagulanyi from the past when he was smoking weed.
Captioned, “VOTE FOR ME BOBI WINE, NALOOO. THIS IS THE TRUE ME. Baaba tukikuba nga tuyingila state house, the pictures had been pinned on the wall housing the electoral commission.
While no one has claimed responsibility for this childish act, Kyagulanyi believes it was done by the NRM camp, which he says is scared of him. While reacting about the incident, Kyagulanyi said the wall is guarded by police, meaning the must have seen whoever did the act.
“Today as we went to meet the Electoral Commission over our continued brutal treatment and murders of our people, we found these posters all over the perimeter walls surrounding the Electoral Commission offices, guarded by the police! They are too weak to realize that this kind of smear campaign only strengthens us! They think they can use our past to bring us down, yet it is that past that has made us who we are today . All dictators, at the verge of their fall, normally resort to desperate schemes. None of these can save them from the inevitable” Kyagulanyi wrote.
