Zzana Killer dogs shot by police
Officers from Katwe Police station have Thursday morning killed four dogs that attacked and bit to death a one Agnes Mirembe, a maid in Zzana in Makindye Sabagabo Division in Wakiso district in the wee hours of Monday morning.
According to Luke Owoyesigire the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Mirembe had been recruited from Buikwe District on Saturday to provide services in the home of businessman, David Wakabi.
He explains that the lady was attacked by the dogs as she went out of the house to start on her daily chores. However, the same dogs attacked Issa Mpanga at around 9:30pm last evening prompting residents to protest.
Mpanga who is currently admitted at Hebrob clinic in Zzana along Entebbe Road in critical condition sustained injuries on the hands, legs and lips.
Owoyesigire narrates that residents mobilized and tried to raze down Wakabi’s home using rudimentary tools, but police intervened to calm the residents and a decision was reached to kill the dogs.
Earlier, Police arrested Wakabi's two sons for alleged failure to rescue Mirembe despite screaming for help when she was attacked by the dogs. According to residents, Wakabi had been repeatedly warned over his rowdy dogs in vain.
Owoyesigire says the files have about the incident have been forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecution -DPP for perusal and legal advice
