President Yoweri Museveni Tuesday held a consultative meeting with members of the Inter-Religious Council and the Elders Forum at State House, Entebbe and agreed that the launch of the National Dialogue be postponed from 21st November 2018 to  18th December 2018.

The postponement was sought to enable the on-going consultations on the detailed arrangments pertaining to the National Dialogue with other key stakeholders.
The President emphasized that the importance of the National Dialogue was to promote stability and prosperity.

He further stressed broad-based involvement and inclusion of different key stakeholders.

The Attorney General, William Byaruhanga, clarified that his Deputy, Rukutuna Mwesigwa, had been misquoted when he was eluded  recently to have said that government was not interested in the National Dialogue.

Today’s consultative meeting included Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dr. Ruhakana     Rugunda, NRM Secretary General, Kasule Justine Lumumba, Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabira, Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban     Mubajje, a number of religious leaders and Justice James Ogola,  among others.
