Mityana Municipality MP, Hon. Francis Zaake has accused Uganda police Force health officials of adding him more pain as they transported the legislature from Entebbe International Airport to his home in Mityana.

Zaake who landed at 7:40am from India, was picked up by police officers as announced last evening by Patrick Onyango the spokesperson, and later driven directly to his home. Upon arrival at home, hon. Zaake found hundreds of his supporters waiting to helcome him back.

Others were waiting for their MP by the roadside, while some supporters followed the police convoy in taxis, trucks and on boda bodas. After arriving at his home, the MP was carried on a stretcher to the house as he displayed immense pain.

He would later tell journalists that police health officers treated him in the most inhumane manner and that all his joints were hurting again.

“I was feeling somehow better but for now about what I have passed through, it has worsened the condition. The way the police so called health workers treated me, it has been so inhuman, it has just worsened my pain” Zaake told the media.

He added that he was feeling pain all over the body, something that had stopped after receiving specialized treatment in India for 40 days. “I have pain in the head, neck, my back and more so the legs and joints. I thank the people of Mityana and Ugandans for their prayers and my colleagues for their support.”

Hon. Zaake was one of the legislators that travelled to Arua in early August to support Kassiano Wadri, an independent candidate in the municipality by-election that sought to replace late Hon. Ibrahim Abiriga.

However, on the final day of rallies, 13th August 2018, chaos broke out, several people were arrested and charged with treason while Zaake and Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi were allegedly held in secret for some days and tortured. They would later seek permission to leave the country for specialized treatment in India and US respectively.

Zaake will recover from home and face the law for his alleged participation in the Arua incident.
