The ministry of health insists there is no Ebola outbreak in the country after one person died at Naguru hospital, of what they claim is Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF).

An unidentified 32 year old resident of Kireka, a Kampala suburb died today. The ministry has now dispersed rapid response teams to undertake contact tracing.

“The deceased will be accorded a safe burial by our medical teams. Blood samples were obtained and sent to Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) where they tested postie of CCHF” the ministry says.

CCHF is a widespread disease caused by a tick-borne virus (Nairovirus) of the Bunyaviridae family. The CCHF has a case fatality rate of 10-40%.
