A Rwenzururu Royal Guard identified as Yosam Bagheni, 65 has become the second person to die in prison after suffering from cerebral malaria and Meningitis.

Mr Frank Baine the Uganda Prison spokesperson, confirmed the development Friday saying the deceased who is the resident of Kyabalongira village, Kyabalongira Sub county in Kasese District fell sick for about a week before he died on Thursday at Jinja Region Referral Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Bagheni has been on remand with the rest of the group at Kirinya Prison in Jinja District since December 14 over several charges including treason, terrorism, murder, attempted murder, aggravated robbery and malicious damage.
The leader of Opposition also Kasese Woman Member of Parliament Winnie Kiiza however says although the hospital authority told them that he died of malaria, she is suspicious of what caused Bagheni’s death.
