One new COVID-19 case confirmed, death toll now at 16
Uganda has registered another COVID-19 death, bringing the deaths to 16. The deceased is a 60 year old Ugandan male from Mbale district.
The deceased presented with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 at a private health facility in Mbale and was put under isolation.
“He was then referred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for further management where he passed on” the health Ministry says.
A total of 16 contacts to the deceased have so far been listed.
Meanwhile, 53 samples tested positive for CoronaVirus bringing the total to 1,656.
35 of these are alerts and 18 are contacts from previously confirmed cases. The alerts include 28 from Kampala, 2 from Wakiso, 2 from Amuru and three from Buikwe, Buvuma and Soroti.
For the contacts, 10 are from Kikuube, 5 from Kampala, and three are from Busia, Masindi and Wakiso.
Also, 11 truck drivers from Kenya and Rwanda who tested positive for COVID-19 were turned away.
Uganda has 1,656 confirmed cases, 16 deaths and 1,188 recoveries.
