2 NRM staff sent into isolation, 17 others put under institutional quarantine following COVID19 scare at Secretariat
Two staff of the NRM Secretariat have been put into isolation after testing positive for Coronavirus and 17 others designated as high risks have been put under institutional quarantine for 14 days.
The development follows an announcement by the Rt. Hon. Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba that two staff tested positive for Covid-19.
An urgent meeting was convened between the Secretariat Top Management and the National Incident Management Team headed by Dr. Monica Musenero on Wednesday, leading to the decision.
“After a thorough analysis of the risk and exposure of members of this office, two staff have been taken under isolation and 17 others designated as high risks have been put under institutional quarantine for 14 days. Starting tomorrow (Thursday), there is going to be strict observance of the SOPs to minimise exposure and risk” Rogers Mulindwa the NRM Party spokesperson said.
Mulindwa added that the entire premises will undergo disinfection this Wednesday evening and all staff that didn’t test on Monday will undergo a Covid-19 test tomorrow (Thursday).
The results come just one day after official nomination of President Museveni as party chairman and presidential flag bearer for 2021 general election.
